Military people are not the only ones building and manning watchtowers; in our own way, we also build and man our own versions of watchtowers. We are vigilant in detecting every sign in our environment that conforms to our ideas about this environment, in the same way that sentries were searching for signs of attackers that confirmed their ideas about being constantly under attack. And as sure as the outside world came invading in old times, the signs that we detect in the world agree with our ideas about it. So we congratulate ourselves in being clever to build these watchtowers because, we are sure, the world is out to get us.
I have been talking about how you create your own reality for a while, and you might like what you read here. You might even accept this at the intellectual level, because it makes some sense to you. You might have gone a step further and tried your hands with one or two programs, but your behavior towards life has not changed dramatically. You still man your watchtowers to find evidences supporting your ideas about the world, which are mainly that it is a bad, unhappy, not-trustworthy, and unsafe place. You still blame, get mad at, fight with, defend and attack people around you because you perceive them as doing something unwanted to you.
If you really believed that you create your world through your thoughts, you would not do that. You would have known that NO ONE can do anything to you. You accept this as an intellectual possibility at the mental level, but it has not yet settled in your heart; your heart is does not has a faith in this statement. It is yet to be convinced.
In “Man Against Himself”, I have talked about how we destroy our own lives and opportunities with doubt. Doubt, as a thought, wants to ascertain its worthiness by finding evidences for its validity. And any thought you focus upon, you will find plenty of evidences to support it. A woman looking for evidences of cheating husband will find them, a worker looking for evidences of unfair boss will find them, and a citizen looking for evidences of governmental conspiracy will swamped by them. This does not mean that what they have uncovered is true beyond their perception of their circumstances, but this is beside the point, because they were not looking for truth, they were looking only for a validation of a foregone conclusion.
Hard evidences can be seen and interpreted in thousands of different ways, depending on the “filter” you apply when you study these evidences. These hard evidences are not evidence of reality, but evidences of the program in your head that create that reality. As long as you deal with the program as if it is reality, you still didn’t get what I have been talking about here.
